KATHERINE PIDLUBNY 1902 - 2001 Katherine Pidlubny was born April 22, 1902 in Chernovchi Bukovyna, Ukraine. In 1907, she, her mother and grandmother, joined her father in Buchanan, Sask, where he had started to homestead. In 1918 she married George Pidlubny, a boy from her village and they moved to Winnipeg. In 1937 she and her family of children moved to Fort Frances, Ont. In 1961 she and her husband retired to Winnipeg and in 1996 she moved to Beacon Hill Lodge. She was a life long member of the Ukrainian Womens Association of Canada and a faithful follower of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its traditions. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1981 and her four sons, Michael, William, Gordon and Walter. She is survived by her daughter Mary and husband Nicholas Andrusco; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Victoria Neros and Margaret Kitzul and brother Steve Smilinski. She was a modest quiet, kind and sincere lady. Her loving heart and hands have been stilled and her soul now rest with her maker. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Monday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m. with The Very Rev. Fr. Henry Lakusta officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Flowers are gratefully declined.
