DENNIS TOYNE Peacefully on January 16, 2001 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Dennis Toyne, beloved husband of Carol, passed away at the age of 59 years. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Josephine Toyne. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carol and three sons, Russell, Rob (Mel) and Ryan; one sister Diane (Paul) Sourisseau and her family, Susan (Doug), Donna, Mike. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Trudy Carson, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Dennis was a member of the Winnipeg Police Service from July 1, 1966 to February 18, 1995, retiring at the rank of Superintendent and worked with M.P.I. from March, 1995 until his death, where he was manager of the Special Investigation Unit. Dennis was blessed with incredible friendships through the years. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He was known for his aggressiveness and competitiveness as a junior hockey player. On the police force, he earned respect from co-workers with his honesty and loyalty. His leisure time was spent golfing with his friends and he loved to keep busy building and fixing things. At parties, Dennis could be heard entertaining everyone with his humour and stories. We will miss you Dennis, but thank you for our time together. A gathering of family and friends will take place between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 21 at the Canad Inn, Transcona, 826 Regent Avenue West. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Special thanks to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital of 5A and Palliative Care Unit for the compassion shown to Dennis and family. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the Sun has set for me, I want no rites in the gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone. Its part of the Masters plan, A step on the road to home. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or toll free 1-888-233-4949.
