CHARLES STASKA Peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at the Beausejour District Hospital, Beausejour, MB with his family by his side, Charles Staska age 79 years, beloved husband of Tena Staska of Ladywood, MB. He leaves to cherish his wife of 48 years, Tena; sons, Robert, David (Brenda) and their sons, Shawn, Tim and Trevor; by his daughters, Catherine Froehlich (Donald), their sons, Jarad and Travis, Shirley Sidhu and her children, Nina, Amanda and Mark, Helen Day and her daughters, Michelle, Nicholle, Theresa Kosack and her children, Joseph, Christopher, Jason and Erin, as well as two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Damien. Also surviving are brothers, Frank (Frances) and Walter (Millie) and sister-in-law Mary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Charles was predeceased by his parents; a brother Joe and son-in-law Eddy. Throughout the years Charles worked in the bush camps. He worked for Manitoba Telephone and later the Moss Spur and BACM construction until his retirement in 1985. He spent his later years enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His first love was always the farm where he enjoyed tinkering in his workshop. Charles loved music, especially the violin as he played in many bands throughout the years. He and wife Tena travelled in western Canada with their big trip being to Alaska and then to Nashville. They enjoyed belonging to Club 50 and Traveloque. Prayers will be said on Friday (tonight), January 19 at 7:30 p.m. from Russell Funeral Homes, Beausejour, MB. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20 at 12:00 noon from St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, Beausejour, with Fr. Owen Steeves officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ladywood, MB. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in his memory to a charity of ones choice.
