LOUIS LEROEYE Suddenly, on January 18, 2001 at Vista Park Lodge, Louis Leroeye passed away at the age of 100 years. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Roger, Jill, Louis Paul (Ellen) grandchildren, great-grandchil-dren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Lydia, second wife Anne, daughter-in-law Helen, one brother and four sisters. Louis was born in Ostende, Belgium in 1900, his father was a sea master, his mother a storekeeper. Taking after his father, Louis had a deep appreciation and love of the sea. In 1914 the family had to leave Belgium, becoming refugees in Wales where he started his automobile repair skills. After a brief return to Belgium in 1919, he married and moved to Winnipeg, Canada, in 1926. He worked for General Motors from 1926 to 1931, then went in partnership in the YM Garage till 1940. Following this, he was employed with Perth Services till 1970. From 1970 he enjoyed life till February 1996 when his wife Anne developed health problems, taking toll on his health as well. He became a resident of Vista Park Lodge in 1999. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ The King Parish Church, 847 St. Marys Rd., with Rev. Fr. Renato Pasinato presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd.
