FRANCIS (FRANK) WILLIAM EDMUNDSON Frank Edmundson of Birtle, Manitoba passed away on January 4, 2001 at the Birtle Health Centre at the age of 81. He was predeceased by his wife Olga in 1989 and his sister Dorothy in 1986. Left to cherish his memory are his son David; daughter-in-law Sharon and granddaughter Carmen of Selkirk, Manitoba; daughter Fran Bates of Post Falls, Idaho; son Ron of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; grandchildren, Dale, Cindy and Trent; son Dean and daughter-in-law Lana of Birtle. His sister Betty and brother-in-law John Forster of Carman, Manitoba and sister Joan Bowman of Edmonton, Alberta, will also lovingly remember him. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins all that knew Frank will sadly miss him. Frank was born in Birtle on June 14, 1919, the eldest child of Ewbank and Norah Edmundson. He was raised on the family farm and, apart from a short period in 1947 when he tried a stint at mining in Red Lake, Ontario, Frank devoted his entire life to farming. He lived the doctrine that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing well, short cuts werent an option. Happiest on the tractor, Frank looked forward to each spring and the challenges that Mother Nature would throw at the farmers. He never was one to be brought down by hardships, but took them in stride and accepted life as it was. When not on the land himself Frank could often be seen driving around the countryside checking out the progress of the crops. That the farm, including the quarter Frank inherited as a youth, is still in the family is testimony to his success. A celebration of Franks life was held on Saturday, January 6 at St. Georges Anglican Church in Birtle with Reverend Paul Curtis officiating. All in attendance were invited to participate as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed in the Birtle Cemetery. The family expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. Moolla and the nurses at Birtle Health Centre for the compassionate care Frank received during his brief illness. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Birtle Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice. Braendle - Bruce Funeral Service was in care of funeral arrangements.
