Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL WARD CAMPBELL (MOORE) (nee KENT) June 12, 1915 - January 18, 2001 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful death of Ethel Ward Campbell with her family by her side on Thursday, January 18, 2001 at the age of 85 years, at the Maples Personal Care Home. Ethel will be lovingly remembered by her children Ken (Ann) of West Montrose, Ontario, Doreen (Bob), Dave (Audrey), Doug, Ron (Valerie) grandchildren, Chris, Ian, Rodney (Kari), Sherri, Shelley (Jeff), Don, Rick; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Dezirae. She was predeceased by her husband Christopher Moore in 1973 and second husband Elmer in 1988. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Violet Kent; brothers, Alf, Bill and Albert; sisters, Florence and Doris. She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Scott, Myrtle Russel; brother Ed (Marjorie) and sisters-in-law Babe and Janet. Mom was a gentle English lady. She was born in 1915 to Arthur and Violet Kent. At the age of 16 her parents left Winnipeg for British Columbia. Ethel stayed on to pursue her future. Ethel worked at Eatons during this time and very much enjoyed her job and the many people she worked with. She waltzed on roller skates at the Winnipeg Roller Rink, met Chris at the Aurora Snowshoe Club, whom she married in 1941. She settled in Elmwood just down the street from her girlhood home. Ethel happily raised five children and started working at Canada Post. Chris passed away in 1973. In 1978 Ethel married Elmer Campbell of Stonewall and became a country wife until his passing in 1988. She loved the small town atmosphere and close relationship with its residents. Ethel later moved to Winnipeg and resided at Lions Manor. She loved the social atmosphere of the building and took part in many of its activities. Ethel fell ill and after a stay in hospital moved to the Maples Nursing Home. Mom loved life, loved children and was always ready with a big smile when she met people. She instilled confidence in her children and was always telling them that she loved them and that "they were good looking". What a good mother you were. Thank you God for such a gift as our mother. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 232 Kennedy St., with the Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to your favourite charity or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 4G2. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 232 Kennedy Street 949-4878
