RETA MERLE MacFARLANE On January 19, 2001, Reta Merle MacFarlane passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. She had her family at her side continuously during her stay at the Grace. Reta was born on March 31, 1924 in Manitou, Man. Her parents, Robert and Helen Thornton, raised her in Manitou, and the family subsequently moved to Winnipeg where she met Gordon MacFarlane. Reta and Gordon married on November 15, 1947, and for the next 53 years they shared a life filled with love, mutual support and the sharing of all of lifes special moments. Family was at the heart of Retas life. Left to celebrate her own special life are her husband Gordon; son Bruce (Diane) grandchildren, Cheryl (Charlie) and Kevin (Natalie) daughter Dale (Bryan Paquin), as well as the apple of her eye, granddog Bailey. We all miss her greatly, more than we can describe. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service to celebrate Retas life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on January 23 at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital as well as Terri and Jan from Home Care. Their support went well beyond what anyone would have expected in the circumstances. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to a charity of their own choice.
