Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALDINA JOHANNA LABOSSIERE October 10, 1933 - January 19, 2001 Val Labossiere of Kenora, Ont. passed away suddenly in her home on January 19, 2001. Born in Reykjavik, Man. on October 10, 1933 she was 67. She was predeceased by her husband Guy; parents, Ollie and Thorbjorg Olafson and brother Ragnar Olafson. Left to cherish her memory are her six sons and their families, Bruce (Linda, Mitchell and Chelsey), Brian (Mary, Bart, Randy, Eddie and Luc), Gary (Fiona, Garth and Jennifer), David, Brent (Gina and Jake) all of Calgary, Alta., and Jerry (Barbara, Gregory and Amy) of Medicine Hat, Alta. She is also survived by her brothers, Gudjon (Rita) Olafson, Kari (Vala) Olafson and her sister-in-law Freda Olafson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was fortunate to have good friends nearby. Over the many years their friendship, support and love were very important to her. Friends and family enjoyed the many culinary delights that she prepared, particularly her dill pickles and Icelandic Rulapilsa. All visitors felt welcome in her home. She always had a smile on her face. The strength of our Moms love and conviction of her beliefs were what defined her. She devoted her life to raising "her boys" and loved to have them near her. "Grandma" dearly loved her grandchildren - they were the joy of her life. We were all fortunate to have had her in our lives for the time that we did. She has left a void that cannot be filled, yet she has given us something that cannot be taken away. We will miss her dearly. Funeral service on Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., January 24 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kenora, Monsignor Roger Bazin presiding.
