LAURENCE SYLVESTER ALBERTS With deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Laurence Sylvester Alberts on January 20, 2001, at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg at the age of 92. Laurence was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris Evelyn Alberts in January 1999. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, June (Bud) Boomer, Ruth (Terry) Wall; grandchildren, Bill (Linda), Ted (Joanne), Rick (Janine) Boomer, Bryan (Laura) Wall, Cathy (Jeremy) Bomhof; great-grandchildren, Laura, Michael, Christopher, Matthew, Jennifer and Heather Boomer and special family friend Jack Reynolds. Dad was born on February 14, 1908 in Dinorwic, Ont. He moved to Winnipeg in his teens and has been a resident of West Kildonan for over 70 years. He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed his involvement in the Anglican Church, West Kildonan Curling Club, Masonic Lodge, The Lord Selkirk-West Kildonan Community Advisory Committee and especially his service of 17 years on the Seven Oaks School Board, many years as Chairman. He was co-owner of Brown and Murray Automotive Supply. One of his greatest loves was spending summers with his family at their cottage at Caddy Lake. We would like to thank Pat Psooy and all the excellent Health Care Workers and volunteers at Middlechurch Home that gave our Dad such good care. We are very thankful to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for allowing us to have a Dad who, loved, encouraged, supported us and taught us strong Christian values. He had a tremendous spirit of courage and strength. Our lives have been greatly enriched with his influence. Our memories of him will last until we meet him again in the mansions the Lord has prepared for us in heaven with Him. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pauls Anglican Church, 299 Balderstone Ave., in Middlechurch, with Rev. Fraser Hunter officiating. Private interment of his cremains will take place at a later date in their family plot at Old Kildonan Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of the arrangements, 586-8044.
