EVELYN LOUISE LAWSON Evelyn Louise Lawson passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20 at Victoria General Hospital following a brief illness. Predeceased by her husband Robert C.A. Lawson; son R. Stewart Lawson; brother R. John Neelin and sister Dorothy A. Harry; she is survived by sister Gertrude Lowthian of Prince Albert SK; son J. William (Sheena) Lawson of Victoria and daughter Beverley J. (Ron) Jones of Regina. She is also lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Evelyn was born in Fielding SK. in 1909 and attended school in Asquith, where the family lived. In 1926 she moved to Regina taking a business course which led to a business career in Real Estate and Insurance. She married in 1933 and moved with husband Bob and three children to Winnipeg in 1940. She has been an active member of St. Stephens Broadway (now Broadway Disciples) United Church and Chapter C.P.E.O. Sisterhood for many years. Her volunteer work included Deer Lodge Red Cross Canteen; knitting hundreds of pairs of mitts for the Winnipeg Cheer Board; playing piano for church services conducted at Beacon Hill Lodge. She was a member for 24 years of the Senior Citizens Choir of Winnipeg; the Uptown Ladies Bowling Group and worked at Motor Coach Industries for 14 years. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Ray Singer and nursing staff at Victoria General Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in Thomson Funeral Chapels. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyns memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg MB R3C 2B7. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
