WILLIAM "BILL" PEELER With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bill Peeler, at the Bethania Personal Care Home, Special Care Unit, on Sunday, January 21, 2001. We thank God for the gift of Bills life and are comforted knowing that his long struggle with Alzheimer Disease is over. Bill endured his illness with great courage and fortitude and now he has peace with our Lord. Keeping Bill in their hearts forever will be his wife Diane; his children, Bill Jr., Jason and Angie and his grandchildren, Danielle, Catherine and Madison. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Skip (Shirley), Bob (Ann) his sister Barb; his aunt Florence; cousins, nieces, nephews and all those whose lives he touched. Bill was born June 17, 1942, at Kirkland Lake to Frances and Mel Peeler. He grew up in the Norwood area and raised his own family in the community of Transcona. Bill was a loving person, proud of his family, caring towards his pets and helpful to his friends and neighbours. He was a social person who made friends wherever he went and especially loved to talk about sports and railroading. Bills involvement with sports was lifelong. As a young man he played on the Wpg. Rod Junior Football team that won the Dominion Championship in 1961. He was selected to the Junior All Star Team in 1963. He gave back to the game he loved by coaching in the Transcona National Football Organization for many years. At age 22, Bill discovered the romance of railroading, working first at the CPR as a trainman and then at CNR where he worked as a yardman and yardmaster until his illness forced him to retire from the work he loved. He was active in UTU local 990 and served as local chairman for yardmasters. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, January 25, at 2:00 p m in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. Bills family is sincerely grateful to the caring staff of the S.C.U. where Bill lived for so long. You gave Bill gentle care, love and laughter, and you gave his wife Diane your friendship and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3C 4G2. So well go no more a roving, So late into the night, Though the heart be still as loving, And the moon be still as bright. For the sword outwears its sheath, And the soul outwears the breast, And the heart must pause to breathe, And love itself have rest. P. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 156 Marion Street 949-4864
