TOD POY YIP April 11, 1944 - January 21, 2001 Shortly before dawn, Sunday, January 21, 2001, Tod Yip left this world as he had lived - gently and with dignity in the arms of his family. In March of 1999, Tod was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and was referred to the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Health Sciences Centre. Many months of treatment proved to be successful and he was given the Gift of Time in the form of a stem cell transplant in January of 2000. Since then Tod has faced the many changes and challenges of his lifes journey with determination, humour, and an inner strength and courage that he shared with all of those who knew him. Tods retirement from the Canadian Wheat Board, after 36 years, became official May 1, 2000, and although it was short-lived, he savoured every precious moment. Tod was a happy, gentle man and gentleman who was deeply devoted to his wife Brenda; sons, Tyler (Anna) and Derek; and daughter Sarah (Kevin). He was devoted as well to his brother Lance in Vancouver and Susan; his mother-in-law Florence Cottrell who inspired him to take on Dialysis treatments when his kidneys failed; his sister-in-law Pat and brother-in-law Rick, who provided the opportunity for us all to share a beautiful Christmas this year, and those special memories to last a lifetime. He will also be sadly missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends. Tod was predeceased by his parents, Horne and Anne Yip; his father-in-law Art Cottrell; and an infant daughter. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Morel Rubinger, Dr. Kim Wiebe, Joyce, Luba, Tunji and the caring, dedicated staff of GD6, Lesley Osachuk, Joanne, Nancy, Pat, Kathy and Dawn from Clinic, Donna and the drivers of the CancerCare Volunteer Program who went out of their way to do that extra bit for Tod. A celebration of Tods life will be held at the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, on Friday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the service. Honorary pallbearers will be his dear friends, Barry and Lynne Tenszen, Ted and Pat Johnston, Don and Sharel Miller of Calgary, Ernie Motz, Lorne Miller, and Bernie Barsky of Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
