THEODORE (THEO) WILLIAM HARASYM It is with deep sadness that we the family of Theo Harasym announce his sudden death at the age of 42 years from cancer on Monday, January 22, 2001 at 2:10 a.m., at the St. Boniface General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Besides his loving wife Lori and son Mathew, he leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father, Kae and Mike Harasym of Winnipeg; two brothers, Kenneth of Guelph, ON and Robert (Linda), their daughter and Theos niece and goddaughter, Rosalyn of Winnipeg; mother and father-in-law, Ellen and William Martin of Northfield, OH; two very special aunts, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Daven on February 4, 1996. Theo was born in Flin Flon, MB on July 30, 1958 where he started kindergarten and attended the First Lutheran Church. At age five he moved with his family to Brandon, MB where he attended The Park, Linden Lanes and Vincent Massey schools. Figure skating, hockey (goalie), baseball, swimming at the Y.M.C.A., Cubs and the Redeemer Lutheran Church were part of his early life in Brandon. On January 1, 1972 the family moved to Winnipeg and joined the Fort Richmond Lutheran Church and Theo attended the Acadia Junior High School and the Fort Richmond Collegiate. The family took house trailer summer vacations each year and travelled to various locations in Canada and the United States. It was during one of those trips in 1974 that Theo met his future wife Lori (The Love of His Life), in Richmond, IN. Theo and Lori married in Millersburg, OH on July 23, 1980 and settled in Winnipeg where they were blessed with the birth of their son Mathew on August 29, 1985. Theo, Lori and brother Robert established PRECIOUS MEMORIES VIDEO RECORDING in 1986, later adding the division of PROMOTIONAL MARKETING VIDEO RECORDING. Some of the most pleasurable pastimes Theo enjoyed were watching his son Mathew play hockey (goalie), and sports. Theo loved organizing and playing volleyball and going on skiing trips with his brother Ken and son Mathew. He leaves many friends whom he has made through pleasure and business and did not dwell or burden anyone with his illness. Theos Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the Epiphany Lutheran Church, 200 Dalhousie Dr., Winnipeg, MB with Pastor Ed Mitchler officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the service in church. Honorary pallbearers will be Theos brothers, Robert and Kenneth Harasym. Pallbearers will be Theos son Mathew Harasym, Wayne Yaskiw, Leon Trudeau, Alastair Ross, Jerry Blowatt, Lenny Kotyk, Lorne Harasym and Jay Cowan. Ushers will be Norm Starink, Larry Stefanic, Mitchell Fontaine, Michael McLeod, Loran Pallow and Ed Johnson. HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST God saw that Theo was getting tired And the cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him And whispered "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched Him suffer and fade away. Although we loved him dearly We could not make him stay. A Golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to Doctors Ken Thorlakson, S. Parham, Naratam and Garry Schroeder, as well as the Palliative Care staff, 8th floor at the St. Boniface General Hospital for their care and kindness. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Care of Manitoba Foundation (Malignant Metastasize Melanoma Research), 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Manitoba Lung Assoc., 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. "Thanks for the PRECIOUS MEMORIES dear husband, father, son, brother, uncle and nephew." WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665

Hey Uncle Theo, I know you won't read this but it is the closest thing I have to talking to you. Every time anyone says your name or talks about you or I watch a home video it makes me really wish I had sometime to get to know you. You were an amazing person and a joy to be around. We are all doing good down here, I know Dad and Mathew really miss you. From your goddaughter who wishes she could get one more minute with you, I love you and miss you. - Posted by: Rosalyn (Niece) on: May 17, 2017

Theo and I did nothing but laugh every time we got together and always forgot why we had gotten together in the first place. Between us, we probably forgot more jokes than most people know in their lifetime. I will always remember the things you taught me. As you can see by the date of this post, I still miss you and always will! I LOVE you and will always miss you. - Posted by: Norm Starink (Friend) on: Mar 04, 2014
