EDWARD NIXON CARSON On Saturday, January 20, 2001, Edward Carson passed away at Victoria General Hospital. Born September 30, 1926 in Shaunavon, SK, married Stella Wytrykusz in 1955, and made Winnipeg their home. He will be sadly missed by his loving family; wife Stella; daughters, Linda (Gerry) Kozakewich (Winnipeg), Colleen (Craig) Thomas (Red Deer, AB) sons, Ken (Lois) and Shawn (both of Winnipeg), and Christopher and special friend Mary Baptiste (Deline, NWT) and fourteen grandchildren: Timothy, Brennan, Robert, and Kathleen Kozakewich; Cory, Kent, and Kari Carson; Trevor, Molly, Duncan and Liam Thomas; Caitlyn and Samantha Carson; and Leah Baptiste. Edward also leaves to mourn his passing, three sisters, Enid Taylor (Chatham, ON), Roberta Derkacht (Yorkton, SK), and Tess (Martin) Klatt (Lebret, SK) seven brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law and their spouses of the Wytrykush family; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Carson (1938) stepfather Len Lakin (1971) mother Janet Isobel Lakin (August, 2000) brothers-in-law, Jack Taylor and Albert Derkacht; and sister-in-law, Lee Dziedzic. Edward retired in 1998 after a successful career of 50 years in the plumbing and heating business. He was involved in community activities, including coaching hockey for many years. His passions were family, friends, woodworking, and golf. Ed was kind and caring, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Prayers will be held Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave, with Fr. Andrew Wach officiating. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 25 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy, with Fr. Pat Morand officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eds memory to a charity of your choice.
