CLEMENS (TOM) MATEUSH Peacefully with his family at his side, Clemens Mateush passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, January 21, 2001, at the age of 92 years. Clemens was born on February 5, 1908, in Ivanovka, Ukraine, and came to Canada at the age of 19. While in Ukraine he apprenticed as a blacksmith and retired from the CP Rail Weston Shops in 1973 after many years of service. Clemens was predeceased by his loving wife Helen Shops in 1984, four sisters and one brother in Ukraine and is survived by his brother Peter and numerous nieces and nephews in Ukraine. Dad will be sadly missed by his sons, Steve (Audrey) and Russell; his daughter Patricia (Kenneth Zealand) grandchildren, Diane (Terry Goresky), Derek, Darci, Donna and David (Maureen) Mateush, Wade and Jaime Mateush, Cameron Zealand, Cheryl (Tim) McQueen and Kimberly Zealand and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Adam. Extended family includes Scott Baldwin (Alice and her daughter Kirby), Clark Baldwin (sons, Myles and Justin) and Dianne and Ted Couture (daughters, Kaitie and Molly). Dad was a master craftsman and spent many hours in his woodworking shop. He greatly enjoyed goldeye fishing, blueberry, cranberry and mushroom picking and time with his family at his cottage in Grand Marais. He reminisced often and thoroughly enjoyed his visits, along with family members, to Ukraine in 1987 and to Hawaii in 1994. Dad will be missed and forever remembered as a kind, mild-mannered and patient man dearly loved by his family. Prayers will be said 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, also at the chapel, with the Rev. Canon Ann Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Mateush, David Mateush, Cameron Zealand, Tim McQueen, Terry Goresky and Ted Couture.
