AMY PEREPELUK (Cotton) Peacefully at sunset, on Sunday, January 21, 2001 in St Boniface Hospital, Amy was welcomed into her eternal home. She was predeceased by her father Herschel, mother Myril, sister Lila, sister-in-law Hedy and brother-in-law John. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Walt, sons Douglas (Joe), (Chiney) of Cochrane, Alta., Ronald (Elaine) of Thompson, Man., daughter Wynne (Butch) of Marathon, Ont. and eight grandchildren. Amy will also be remembered by her brothers, Al (Lil) Cotton, Wes (Verna) Cotton and brother-in-law Numi Stefanson. Amy was born and raised in Swan River, Man. and spent the early years of her life teaching in rural one room schools in Duncanville, Gilbert Plains area (Deer Park School), and finally in Flin Flon, Man. There she met and married Walt. Soon after they moved to Lynn Lake where they owned and operated Central Meat and Grocery for 36 years. Besides her devotion to her family, Eastern Star was a major part of her life. She became a charter member of Dawn Chapter in Lynn in 1959 and was Worthy Matron in 1965. She was thrilled to be elected to the Grand Family and served as W. G. Matron of Manitoba in 1975. A highlight of her "Road of Life" year was the opening of the second section of the Eastern Star Chalet. She dedicated many hours helping Thompsons Chimo Chapter receive their charter. She also held many appointments for international Grand Chapter. Amy held many offices in Dawn, and will always be fondly remembered on her swivelling stool holding the offices of Secretary and Organist. She loved to bowl and over the years she was also involved with the U.C.W., Lioness and Curling. Amy loved to travel to visit her family and friends and attended many Grand Sessions all over Canada and the U.S. This August she was surprised by family and friends to help celebrate her 80th birthday. Amy spent the last years of her life enjoying the fellowship and friends at the 360 Osborne Place Apts. where they made many wonderful friendships. Amy and Walt were looking forward to celebrating 50 years of marriage in May. A service in celebration of her life will be held at the Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 24 with Rev. Russ Wardell officiating. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Mithra Davey and the staff of 2B in St. Boniface Hospital for all their support and care of Mom. Your kindness will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Eastern Star Chalet Expansion Fund, (525 Cathcart, Winnipeg, Man.) a project close to her heart. Arrangements entrusted to Neil Bardal Inc. 949-2200. A link in our golden chain has been broken, but Marthas trustful faith ensures us that the parting is only temporary and we will meet again in our eternal home.
