HUGH MILLAR BELL January 1, 1917 - January 20, 2001 84 years Peacefully left us at the St. Boniface Hospital, Saturday morning around 3:00 a.m. Hugh lived a full life spending his younger days 1937 to 1940 in New York playing for the A.H.L. affiliate of the New York Americans of the N.H.L. From 1940 to 1945, Hugh served in Her Majestys Navy in the Second World War, at which time he played hockey for the Navy in England with N.H.L. player such as Charlie Conacher. Hugh returned to Winnipeg and started his career at C.P.R. Freight Sheds for 25 years. He is survived by three children, Garry, Dawn and Lorraine. Hugh was predeceased by his loving wife Frances. They leave behind her five children, Jeanette Grymaluk, Diane Martin, Don Zinkowski, Johanne OBrien and Deborah Dworan; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered and loved by all. Any members of his first marriage needing information please contact Deborah Dworan at 334-1118. A memorial service will be held at St. James Royal Canadian Legion, 1755 Portage Ave., Thursday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Sky Lake, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
