Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL DAVID COOK (BIG DUDE) December 26, 1939 - February 8, 2001 Peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, February 8, 2001, Russell Cook passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 61 years. Russell earned his living as a fisherman and a logger. He was a kind and gentle man, who was always willing to help people. He loved children and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. He leaves to mourn his father Dan Cook; daughter Annette Maytwayashing; and grandchildren, Norma, April, Jerry, Rodney, Danielle; brothers, Soloman, Norman, and John; sisters, Audrey Sinclair, Grace McLeod, Marie (Oscar) Olson, Yvonne Cook, Virginia (Ralph) Arthurson, Marlyn Cook, Dorothy (Dick) Hutchinson, Helen (Garth) Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; and many friends. Russell was predeceased by his mother Angelic (nee Chartier) brothers, Walter and Danny; and brother-in-law Hubert Sinclair. Pallbearers will be Gene Sinclair, Mark McLeod, Dwayne Cook, Terry Cook, Tim Arthurson, James Cox, Michael Hutchinson, and John Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Fourre, Glen Chastelaine, Chip Mercredi, Soloman Cook, Norman Cook, John Cook, Mike Demcheson, and Mervin Cook. Wake services will be held at the Roman Catholic Hall in Grand Rapids, MB. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. James Anglican Church. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff and friends at Swampy Cree Medical Receiving Home and the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Boniface Hospital for the friendship and gentle care they offered to our brother Russell.
