Date of Passing: Jan 22, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY JOSEPH CHASE On January 22, 2001, at his home in Winnipeg, Stanley Joseph Chase, our dearly beloved father, passed away suddenly but peacefully onto our Lord at the age of 97 years. He is survived by his only daughter Valerie (Charles), his only son Raymond (Linda) and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his passing his brother Norman (Mary) of Vancouver. Stanley was predeceased by his parents, his wife Jean in 1976 and his sister Mary. Stan was born in 1903 in Poland and immigrated to Canada with his family at quite an early age. He grew up in a farming community outside of Winnipeg and eventually moved to the city with his family. His father died early in life, and Stan continued to live in the city with his remaining immediate family for a number of years. He discovered an interest and aptitude in music and joined a dance band where for many years he enjoyed playing the saxophone. This inherent talent he passed onto his son. At the same time, Stan was employed at Paulins Biscuit and Candy Company from which he eventually retired as foreman after 40 some years. Dad married his wife Jean and loved her to her end. They raised and loved their two children, Valerie and Raymond, and Stan continued to do so until his death. He also loved his Church and the Lord. The Lord continued to be an integral part of Stans life, and he was actively involved as a member of Holy Ghost parish and Sokols choir. His love of the Lord continued at St. Alphonsus parish where he ushered until his last Sunday. Until the day he passed away, Stan attended daily mass to be close to and learn from his Lord. Dad loved his yard and his flower garden, his wildlife pets, and going on trips to the mountains, oceans and lakes. He loved the earth and all it brought, the flowers and food, the sunshine and stars, the trees and wind. He wanted for naught, his home was his castle, and he lived there until the day he died. Projects with Raymond and his wife and Friday night dinners and crib games with Valerie and her husband brought many hours of happiness. His special friend Jean was an important part of Stans everyday life, and a daily visit was absolutely a must and rarely missed. You have seen many things and we know how much you loved life and did not want to leave us, but the Lord put out his hand and said, "Come to Me." You have earned eternal peace, comfort and happiness at His side. Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 25, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 26, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier, with Brother Jorge Villegas O.F.M.
