IRIS GERALDINE SPENCER Peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2001 at home. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Ann; two brothers, Godfrey and Rex; and her sister Gracie. Iris was born in Winnipeg, October 22, 1910 where she lived most of her life. She was a gifted violinist and taught music for some 70 years. In addition, she played at the local theatres for visiting performers and spoke often of her appreciation for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, attending many performances with her close friend, Irene Bandy. Particularly close to her were, Shirley Nicholson, Freda Blanco, Lena Baluk and Dorothy Didur, who shared her fondness for music. During the latter part of her life she appreciated the love and concern of Mary Wylie, Mary Dolinski and Andrea Stevenson, fellow residents of Lions Manor. As one of Jehovahs Witnesses, Iris gained a much larger family of friends. She associated with the Arlington congregation, and was active for some 50 years, sharing her bible based beliefs with all she met. Her strong belief in the promised resurrection and life in a restored paradise tempers the sadness of her death. It is appropriate that sincere thanks be extended to the staff of Lions Manor. Cremation has taken place and the memorial service will be held at the Arlington Kingdom Hall, 1060 Wolever Ave. at 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 26 with Ken Sallows officiating.
