Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERARD BOUCHARD September 11, 1924 - January 19, 2001 On January 19, 2001, Gerry passed away peacefully at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 76 years. Gerry was born in St. Boniface on September 11, 1924 and moved with his family to Keewatin, ON in 1940. He served in the 12th Manitoban Dragoon during the Second World War. For many years, he was employed by Excel Coach Lines in Kenora. Gerry enjoyed his travels down the south highway and up to Red Lake as well as his Laclu school bus run. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the town of Kenora. After his marriage to Alice in 1970, Gerry moved to Winnipeg and resided for many years in St. Vital. He was employed by the Norwood School Division where he worked as a custodian until his retirement. Eventually, he took up residence in the Deer Lodge Centre. His easygoing manner and pleasant personality helped him make many new friends. He was a member of the Kenora Legion, Branch 12, Norwood Legion, Branch 43 and most recently frequented the St. James Legion. Gerry was an avid curler in his youth and a sports enthusiast throughout his life. He was predeceased by his wife Alice on December 10, 1998; mother and father, Joe and Rose Bouchard, and brothers, Wilfrid (Fifi) and Roger. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Florence Bellefeuille and Rita Reynard; his brothers, Paul (Joan), Leo (Josie), Luke (Marg) sisters-in-law, Betty and Sherry, and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of the Deer Lodge Centre for their excellent care and attention. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment Centre, Alzheimer Society or the Deer Lodge Centre.
