EDMUND SCHIRLE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Schirle at the East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, Man. on Monday, January 22, 2001 at the age of 95 years. He was predeceased by his wife Emma in 1991 and his son-in-law Ken Childe in 2000. He is survived by his only child, Lillian Childe and four grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Bruce), Douglas, Katheryn (Bill) Wardekker, Bradley (Pat) Childe and Terrence Childe; his great-grandchildren Brandon (Jennifer) Ward, Jennifer Ward, Amanda and Megan Wardekker, Kristopher, Alyssa and Scott Childe, Ryan and Lindsey Childe; his great great grandchildren Bryce and Payton Ward and Katelyn Ward as well as his sisters Wanda Larsen, Minnie Aumuller and Anne Schirle. Ed was born on December 26, 1905 in Poland and as a small child immigrated with his family to the Green Bay area of Manitoba. As a young man, he worked whatever jobs he could to earn a living - farm work, well drilling, carpentry and the building of the Seven Sisters Power House. After his marriage to Emma in 1932, he built a home in the Cromwell area and farmed there until his retirement and moved to the Town of Beausejour in 1975. He was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church holding the office of Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of council for the Municipality for 19 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter until failing health no longer allowed these pleasurers, but he took great interest in hearing the stories his grandchildren would tell of their recent experiences. He had a remarkable memory and told many tales of his youth and adventures. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Green Bay. Man. Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour, Man. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Our deep appreciation to the staff at East Gate Lodge as well as Dr. Zeiler. Flowers are greatfully declined. If family and friends so desire, donations in Eds memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, Man. R3A 1P6 or St. Pauls Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
