ROSE MARIE MIRUS (CHRZANOWSKI)
Date of Passing: Jan 23, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE MARIE MIRUS (nee CHRZANOWSKI) It is with love and sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, Rose Mirus, suddenly on January 23, 2001 at the age of 86, while visiting with family in California. Rose was predeceased by her husband John in 1994. Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Audrey Sharp, John Mirus (Marge), and Tom Mirus (Christine). Grandchildren are Keith (Anne), Carrie (Martin), Cheryl (Bob), Pamela, Jason (Holly), Adam (Donna), and Travis. Great-grandchildren, Alex, Katy, Emily, Sine, David, Nathalie, Craig, Melissa, Carli, Amber, Kirstin, and Nege. Rose is also survived by her brother Frank Chase of London, ON, and her very special sister Lucy Houghton. She will also be sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews. Rose grew up in Winnipeg on Selkirk Avenue, where her happy home with her brothers and sisters was also known as one of the finest seamstress shops in Winnipeg, a business ran by her mother. Many a bride and bridesmaid passed through that house. After marrying her husband John, Mom was blessed with three healthy children. In the early days Mom was a wonderful homemaker and, as well, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club (C.U.A.C.), a place well known to many North Enders. Mom later began working at Cliffords Ladies Wear for many years followed by several years at Rickis Ladies Wear. She had a very obvious talent in fashion and dress, especially so when it came to bridal parties. She truly enjoyed her work in the retail fashion business. As long as Mom lived she always prided herself in looking her best. Often at any special occasion or wedding, many a person noted her beautiful style of dressing and the special way she carried herself. Moms looks belied her age, most likely due to her young at heart outlook and positive attitude. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, aunty and sister, Mom touched many lives. She was a very special person to many family and friends. Rarely did she miss a birthday party for the little ones or a wedding or other social evening. Mom loved going out for lunch in her latter years (never a rushed affair) and would chat for hours with her lunch mates, usually one of her family who was gladly spending time with Mom, Nana, or Aunty Rose. Mom spent many, many summers at Winnipeg Beach at the family cottages. Many of the familys children spent time there too. It was a special place for Mom and it was a special place for others when Mom was there. Mom was strong advocate of what she considered good morals, ethics and even proper dress for the right occasion. Beware the person who would dare wear jeans to the Christmas Dinner. The success of Moms family members was always a personal success to Mom as well. She was very boastful of her familys accomplishments and truly filled with pride because of them. Mom spent a month almost every year visiting her daughter and family in California, something she truly loved doing. She also travelled to many places such as Hawaii, Japan and England with her daughter and revelled in the great pleasure these trips gave her. Prayers will be held on Sunday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Keith Sharp, Jason Mirus, Adam Mirus, Travis Mirus; and great-grandsons, Alex Sharp, Craig Fredericks-Mirus and David Schlakjar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 9Z9. Heaven has gained an elegant, loving lady, our mentor, our friend our Mother. "Rest in peace, Mom We love you." CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements, 586-8044
