Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES DONALD McKINNON It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our deeply beloved son, father, brother and nephew, Jim McKinnon, in a tragic accident at Brooks, Alta., on Friday, January 19, 2001. Jim will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his three children, Nicholas, Ashley and Justin; his parents Jane and Rixon McKinnon; his sister Brenda (Darcy) aunts and uncles, Louise Proven, Lionel (June) McKinnon, Betty (Curt) Johnson and many cousins and numerous friends. Jim was predeceased by his brother Neil (1987) his grandparents Allen (1990) and Annie (1988) Proven, Arthur (1976) and Adelade (1973) McKinnon. Jim was born on December 15, 1963, at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, Alta. When Jim was a year and a half old, he moved with his parents to a farm near Rapid City, Man. Jim enjoyed the farm life and the companionship of his younger brother and sister. As a youth, Jim was involved in 4-H, hockey, curling, and expressed his love of music in the junior choir at Cadurcis as a member of the United Church. Jim went to school at Rapid City and later at Minnedosa Collegiate where he made many close friends that have lasted a lifetime. After graduation from high school Jim attained his machinist certificate at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. In 1986 Jim married Marion Northam and in 1987 they moved to Calgary, Alta. While in Calgary, Jim pursued his career as a journeyman machinist and they were blessed with three children. In 1999 Jim moved back to Minnedosa. He became a scout leader and was looking forward to returning as a leader. In 2000 Jim joined the Masonic Lodge, an organization that he truly respected and that his father was already a member of. Jim will always be remembered for his work ethic, quick smile and sense of humour. He had many close friends that truly valued their friendship with him. He was, however, at his greatest level of enjoyment when he was surrounded by his children. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, at the United Church in Minnedosa with Pastor Kathy Platt officiating. Active pallbearers were John Gordon, Mike Grant, Jack Orr, Colin McTavish, Ed Hinsburg and Pat Ritchie. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the trust fund for Nicholas, Ashley and Justin at the Royal Bank in Minnedosa. Sparrow Funeral Service in care of arrangements.
