Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHUGH MacDONALD It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our father on January 23, 2001, surrounded by family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Laurie (Rob), Brian (Kathy), and Rob (Cheryl) and the grandchildren he cherished, Chantal, Kristen, and Brandon. Also left to mourn are his brothers Alistair of Vancouver and Chuck of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Hugh was born in Fort Rouge, the youngest of three sons, on June 29, 1925. He was proud to be a Winnipegger all his life and a railway man for 33 years. Dad took pride in his Scottish heritage and much joy in spending time with family, not only on special occasions, but every day and in every way. He was very active in the community, especially at Sir John Franklin C.C. where he passed on his love of sports as a coach and volunteer. He enjoyed his curling and will be missed by his friends at the Granite C.C., but Dads passion was baseball and he loved attending games at home and abroad. In the late 1940s he reached for a dream by trying out for pro baseball in the States. In his later years, Dad enjoyed travel abroad and Christmases in London, Ontario. He had just completed an enjoyable trip to Japan when he became ill. Dad loved a good debate, reading, going on daily walks, and being with his family. Thanks to Rob Dailley for his TLC with Dad during his illness. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of Hughs life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27th in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
