ERWIN ROEHM It is with sadness that his family announces the death of Erwin Roehm on Friday, January 26, 2001. Erwin, aged 79 years, passed away at his home with his wife by his side. Erwin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Leokadia; his children Erika, Elli, Marita and Angela; Ellis children, Anita, Alissa and Ashley Lloyd; Maritas husband, Eric and children, Selene, Nathalie and Larissa Dowsett; Angelas husband, Philip Pattison; Erwins sisters, Else and Marta in Germany; as well as other nephews and nieces in Germany. Erwin was born in a small village near Lodz, Poland on November 13, 1921. During the Second World War, Erwin served as a naval officer, as a soldier in Russia and also was a prisoner of war. He immigrated to Manitoba, Canada with his wife and first born, Erika, in 1951 and lived in Winnipeg for the remainder of his life. Erwin worked for Borger Construction, later known as Borland Industries, for 30 years until his retirement. Gardening and landscaping were always his favourite hobbies and became a small business venture after retirement. Special thanks to Erwins family physician Dr. Susan Hauch, his respirologist, Dr. Lertzman and to all his wonderful neighbours, especially Dan and Cheryl Albas, Ray and Cindy Hogue, Dennis and Carol Cauvin, and Mike and Cheryl Agar. Also, thanks to Diane McQuerter, Home Care Coordinator, along with home care attendants, Anna Derkon and Denise Nilson. Appreciation to Vital Aire and their attendants. A special thank you to a longtime friend, Alex Schorn, who helped with many personal and financial matters throughout the years. A Service of Remembrance will take place in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St., on Thursday, February 1, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Heimo Bachmeyer of St. Peters Lutheran Church presiding the service.
