Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryT. ALBERT SIMPSON After a lengthy illness, Albert Simpson passed away at the Concordia Hospital on January 27, 2001. He was predeceased by his parents, T.A. and Harriet Simpson and his sister Ruth Simpson. Al will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Pauline; children, Pam (Bill) Lucenkiw, Gale Simpson (Larry Chartrand), Grant Simpson, Paul (Karen) Simpson, Gwen (Grant) Armbruster and Elaine (Bernie) Simpson-Henry; grandchildren, Michael, Holly, and Ryan Lucenkiw, Corey Simpson, Tyler and Nicholas Simpson, Scott Armbruster and Ashley and Jenny Henry. Al was born in Winnipeg on February 23, 1925, growing up in the West End. He started working in the family business, Winnipeg Typewriters Ltd. at the age of 13. After High School, he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. In his youth he achieved the rank of King Scout and later became a Scout Master. He returned to work in the family business when the war ended and became the owner when his father retired. Albert retired from the business, due to illness, at age 59. He was known throughout Canada in the Office Machine Industry for his honesty, integrity, and knowledge. Recently, he donated an antique typewriter collection to the Museum of Man and Nature to be used in their Millennium Collection. In 1986 Al was made a life-member of the Canadian Office Machine Dealers Association. Al was an active member of the Winnipeg Junior Chamber of Commerce. He also served as president of the Manitoba Jaycees in 1962. He was a life-member of the Canada JCI Senate (Senator 4302). He passed on his love of outdoor life, especially camping and cycling to his children and grandchildren. He led many family camping expeditions, sharing his love of travel. As well, Al and Pauline traveled to Europe, Jamaica, and throughout North America. He had a passion for driving, he loved cars. He was always one of the first to be driven in all the new family vehicles. His greatest achievement and pride was raising a family of six children with encouragement, love and patience. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, a donation may be made in Als memory to a charity of your choice. Thank you to the numerous supports offered to Al from Home Care and all the medical professionals involved in his care. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Norwood United Church, 160 St. Marys Road at Tache Avenue. Reception will follow at the church.
