EVERETT ASA CARLSON August 2, 1926 - January 25, 2001 Suddenly and peacefully at home, Everett passed away on January 25th. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 55 years, Florence. Together they had six children, Carol (Ron) Kozial, Reg (Linda), Joan (Bill) Jeffery, Ron (Vicky), Wendy (Cliff) McIntyre, Kim (Brian) Stout; six grandchildren, Debbie (Trevor), Dean (Margaret), Corey (Carol), Roben (Cam), Aaron and Alix; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Ev was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Cora. He is survived by his brother Doug, and his two sisters, Gwen and Chris. As well as numerous relatives and friends. Everett was born in Emo, Ontario and resided there until his marriage to Florence. Shortly after, they moved to Manitoba and settled in the Greenwood area where they raised their children and worked the family farm. Ev was very active in the community. For many years he was a member of the Interlake Riding Club, the I.P.C.C.C., and served as councillor for R.M. of Rockwood. Other than his family, his two main passions were driving his horses and his truck. For many years, he travelled throughout Manitoba racing his team of chariot horses. Later on, Ev enjoyed driving a wagon with his big team (Rocky & Ted, Sugar & Pepper). Nothing gave him greater pleasure than driving his team at parades, horse shows, sleigh rides and trail rides. He spent countless hours fixing his wagon and polishing the harness. Everett never took the time to retire as there was always someone who needed a load of hay. He could be seen driving on any day, at any time, any place in the Interlake. His family and friends will forever miss his wonderful sense of humor and gift of story telling. Ev could keep people entertained for hours with his stories and one liners. A memorial service celebrating Everetts life will be held in the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre on Monday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Windsor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Thank you to MacKenzie Funeral Home for all the arrangements and care.
