Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED ELIZABETH CLARKE (VAN SICKLE) 1918 - 2001 Peacefully and surrounded by love, Mom passed away following a lengthy illness at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on Friday, January 26, 2001 at the age of 82. Mildred was born on September 16, 1918 at Swan River, Man. She married Ozzie Clarke on August 12, 1942 in Winnipeg, Man. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Agnes Van Sickle and husband Ozzie Clarke on June 1, 1988; daughter Katherine Diane on January 23, 1945; sisters, Vida Hoggan, Phyllis Connor, Mary Woods and brother Harold Van Sickle lost at sea during the Second World War. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Linda and husband Gregory Clark of Winnipeg, Man., Glenda and husband Rory McMillan of Kenora; her special friend, companion and brother-in-law Bob Woods of Swan River, Man., and his daughters, Brenda and husband Clayton and Leslie; brothers-in-law, Bill Hoggan and Bert Connor of Winnipeg, Man.; sisters-in-law, Olive Bakstad, Langley, B.C., Lena Clarke, Comox, B.C., Josephine Smith, Summerland B.C., Dot Clarke, Lightwoods, Sask., Marjorie Irvine, Nipawin, Sask., and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred was employed at F.W. Woolworth, Linklaters and at Jacksons Bakery when it was co-owned by her late husband Ozzie and his partner Bob Giles from 1967 to 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Mission Circles. Her greatest loves were her immediate family, church family, neighbourhood family, friends, gardening, reading, golfing, her winters in Weslaco, Texas with Bob and their trips to Scotland and Holland. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the First Baptist Church, Kenora on Wednesday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Gordon Day-Jantz officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Mildreds memory to Lake of the Woods Hospital Foundation, 21 Sylvan Street West, Kenora, Ont, P9N 3W7 or the Kenora Public Library, 24 Main Street South, Kenora, Ont., P9N 1S7. At Mildreds request, her remains will be buried with her daughter Katherine Diane and husband Ozzie at the Brandon City Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to her friends and neighbours for their care, concern, friendship and love - they held a special place in "Millies" heart. To the staff on Two East, Lake of the Woods District Hospital, we wish to express our appreciation for the love, care and compassion that was given to our Mom - we are fortunate to have this resource in our community. The Kenora Community Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements. Of all yesterdays, todays and tomorrows Allow us this moment to borrow To remember, her features, her personality, Her strength, and her weaknesses And her docile ways. We may feel in a haze But the love always stays We will remember her With compassion and honour. Farewell to a wonderful mother!
