He was predeceased by his father John, in 1951 and mother Isabella, in 1999. John was born in Winnipeg on November 23, 1934, growing up in the West end. He attended Greenway, General Wolfe and Daniel McIntyre schools. John and Blanche were married April 6, 1957, residing in West Kildonan for most of their married life. He worked at Canada Packers, Midwest Storage and Dist., and Brooke Bond which later became Thomas J. Lipton. He enjoyed his working career but was quite happy to take early retirement. The time spent with his family was his greatest joy and also the summers at Matlock. He was a hard worker, making sure his family was taken care of above everything else. He enjoyed his friends and also the friends of his daughters who affectionately called him Dad. John was generous with all, had simple tastes in life, enjoying most sitting on the deck at Matlock and listening to the birds sing. Everyone enjoyed his sense of humour, gentle teasing and conversations with him to solve the worlds problems. He fought the struggle of Diabetes for 40 years and now is at peace. We will miss him but his presence will always be with us. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. S. Cleghorn for his excellent care, also Paramedics, Emergency and I.C.
