HERBERT MERRIL HANNA Herbert Merrill Hanna "Bert", beloved husband of Ileine; loving Dad of Wayne and Marga, Grant and Joan and Gordon and Carolyn; loving Grandpa of Damon, Ryan, Lauren, Elaine, Blake, Michael and Carol, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2001. Also surviving is one sister, Violet Anderson and one brother, Orval, plus many nieces and nephews. Bert was born in 1913 in Carstairs, AB. He started work in 1928 at North Star Oil Company, then Shell Oil, retiring in 1978 with 50 years of service. Bert was an avid cribbage player who always enjoyed a game with his grandchildren. He loved to curl and belonged to the CPR Curling Club. He also enjoyed bowling. He was treasurer the Atlantic Garden City United Church for many years. He was also treasurer for the AOTS Mens club and the Shell Retirees. He was a veteran of the Second World War returning to Canada in 1946 and was a member of the St. James Legion No. 4. He was loved and enjoyed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the Atlantic Garden City United Church, corner of Atlantic and Arlington, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30.
