DOROTHY MARY GRIEVE (nee WILSON) Peacefully on January 28, 2001, Dorothy Mary Grieve passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital. Dorothy was born in Minnedosa, Man., on April 8, 1932. She was the eldest child of Edith and Robert Wilson. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Robert. She leaves to mourn her husband of 48 years, Jack; her children, Bob and his children, Beth and R.J.; Linda (John) and their children, Branden and Jessie-Mae; Ken (Pam) and their children, Trevor and Tabitha. She also leaves her sister Frances (Keith) Pickell, brother George (Vernita) Wilson, brother-in-law Bill (Evie) Grieve, sister-in-law Gwen Shynkar and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Dorothys early years were spent in Minnedosa and then on a farm near Neepawa. She attended Union School and then Neepawa High School. She entered the work force in 1949 when she became an MTS telephone operator. She worked in Shoal Lake, Man., and then in Winnipeg. She married Jack (RJ) in 1952. They lived in Shoal Lake where she worked as a farmer, mother and community volunteer. In 1960 they moved to Minto, Man., where she was active in their Imperial Oil Gas Station, the United Church and Community Affairs. In 1961 Dorothy and her family moved to their longtime home in Minitonas, Man. It is here that Dorothys compassion and caring for others shone through. She was actively involved in her husbands business, tending to her children, the church, community recreation activities, gardening, handicrafts, 4-H, church choir and Christmas Contatas. Dorothy treasured her time as leader of the youth group and the Jr. choir, spending time in bible studies, camping with her family, fishing, curling, sewing and knitting. In 1974 Dorothy completed her Grade 12 by correspondence and graduated from high school with her daughter. She went on to take a library technician course and worked at the Northwest Regional Library from 1981 and retired in 1989. Dorothy was a loving woman towards all and will be sadly missed by family and friends. A memorial service was held on Friday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. barb janes officiating. Interment of ashes will be held on April 14 at the Minitonas Knox United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 0S6, of the charity of ones choice.
