RALPH LINDGREN December 18, 1923 - January 26, 2001 Suddenly at home, Ralph Lindgren, passed away on January 26, 2001. He leaves to mourn Anne, his beloved wife of 42 years. Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Axel and Ragna and brothers, Richard, Roger and Ross. He is survived by sisters, Ruth Norris of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ruby Bonner of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Rowena Berg of Hawkesbury, Ontario as well as brothers, Roland of Edmonton and Reg of Saskatoon. He also leaves an extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Ralph was born at home in Congress, Saskatchewan on December 18, 1923. In his early years, "Buddy" especially enjoyed the birth of a new brother or sister as well as the frequent family gatherings. He worked at several jobs during the Depression and the Second World War to help the family get by and in 1945, with $75.00 to his name, moved to Vancouver. There he found his niche selling cars and with Annes support became more and more successful, ultimately buying the largest Volkswagen dealership in Western Canada, Volkswagen Pacific. Ralph always credited Anne for the support she provided over the years, especially her good advice that he retire in 1984. They enjoyed many years travelling the continent in their motor home and at their retirement home in Palm Springs, California. Las Vegas was one of Ralphs favourite destinations. They moved to Winnipeg in 1998 to be closer to their family and renew old acquaintances. Ralph enjoyed his Cadillacs which were always kept in immaculate condition and golfing at the Capilano Golf and Country Club where he was a member for many years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with Major Gordon Jarvis officiating. Viewing Thursday, February 1, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Alden Lindgren, Greg Lindgren, Bob Norris, Christopher Ribachuk, Joel Ribachuk and Jim Wuckert. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Ralph will be remembered as being friendly, humorous and easy going. His advice to anyone was to enjoy life from the beginning, save for the future, set your goals and attain them. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Deep are the memories, precious they stay No passing of time can take them away Quietly today your memory we treasure Missing you, and forgetting you never.
