Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAUDIE HELEN GINGLES (nee LEMON) March 3, 1915 - January 31, 2001 Maudie was born and began life in Hamiota, Man. Her parents were Laura Ann (nee Brown) and John Lemon. She was the youngest of their six children, Gordon, Bruce, Fred, Laura, Donnie and Maudie, all of whom predeceased her. Hamiota was their home till the summer of 1926 when they were forced to moved to Winnipeg, due to loss of the family business. Maudie attended Gordon Bell School and Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. While there, she got involved in singing and sports. Her favourite sport was basketball, she was a member of the provincial team "The Northern Lights". After high school, she worked as Head Cashier for Canada Safeway on Donald Street. She also worked at McDonalds Consolidated where she met and fell in love with John Gingles. Maudie married Johnny, November 29, 1941. Their marriage produced two girls, Phyllis and Joan. Phyllis is married to Jim Poole, they have three children, Brad, wife Roseanne, Brent and Brenda. Brad is Father to Maudies only great-grandchild Braydon. Joan is married to Willfort Erichsen, they have two sons, Brian and Scott. Maudie worked in fashion, at Hudson Bay for many years. She had many life long friends. One set were members of her C.G.I.T. group from Knox United Church (Winnipeg). They would get together twice a month for the next seventy-four years. Maudie and John loved to travel. They enjoyed exploring new places and things. They also enjoyed music and dancing. They were very involved with their family. Maudie loved to entertain and was well known for her lively parties. In latter years, her brother Donnie and Maudie spent their days together. They loved each other and thoroughly enjoyed being together. Maudie passed peacefully with her family beside her. Mom will be sorrowly missed, but lovingly remembered. "A Mother is one who knows all about you - but loves you just the same." In Moms own words, "Our love for each other will surround us, and fill us with love, hope and joy - this will help us all, on our continuing lifes journey!" A gathering will be held for Maudie, Monday, February 5 at 2:00 p.m. If you wish to come call 837-2252. Please come with a story about Maudie.
