LORNA RUTHERFORD HARVEY (nee MILLMAN) Peacefully, at the age of 88 years, Lorna R. Harvey passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on January 31, 2001, with her loving nephew Bob Millman and close friends, Ron and Eleanor Anderson by her side. Lorna was predeceased by her husband John Gurzon Harvey and by her parents Hartley and Margaret Millman. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Jack; her daughter Margie and grandchildren, Lori and Becky and by great-grandchild Dylan; her sister Mary Collins; her nephews, Bob and Hart Millman, Don Wright, Peter Collins and her nieces, Nancy Winter-Hay, Susan Collins and Alison Kennedy. Lorna was born in Winnipeg on December 2, 1912, growing up in River Heights. She attended Earl Grey and Kelvin High Schools and graduated with her R.N. from the Winnipeg General Hospital, where she nursed for several years. Lorna married Gurzon in 1941 and resided in River Heights. After her husbands death in 1970, she completed her B.A. in Psychology and graduated in 1971 at 59 years of age. Following this, she returned to nursing at Central Park Lodge. Her compassion and caring for her friends, her extended family, her son and daughter over the years were unsurpassed. Lorna faced her sons challenges with courage and determination and her unwavering devotion to his care was a most beautiful testament to the depth of her faith, love, strength and selfless character. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Sandy Hook, Man., and spent much time in her garden, enjoying the lake and neighbourly chats. Lorna spent much of her life in volunteer service to others, through her work at the Kiwanis Club, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg as a volunteer in adult care, a home visitor and member of the Board of Trustees. She was also a lifetime member of Westminister Church. A funeral service will be held at Westminister United Church, 745 Westminister at Maryland, on Sunday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.
