BRUCE HUNTER Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Bruce Hunter passed away January 29, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his daughter Leslie Hunter; step-children Scott and Amy Wilson, his mother Ina Hunter and sister Betty of Penticton and brother Roy of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his father Robert Hunter in 1999. Bruce was born in Winnipeg on July 4, 1949. He was educated in Winnipeg and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1971. Everyone who knew Bruce relished his quiet and easy style. He was a man of spirited determination and humour even in the face of adversity. Bruce spent his working life building his company, Mid-Continental Pump Supply which under his leadership grew into a successful and respected organization. In his private life Bruce enjoyed his family, especially his special times with his daughter Leslie. A man passionate about his golf, he delighted in being first on the course in the spring and last off in the fall. Shirley shared Bruces love of golf. They enjoyed many happy times playing together and during the off season took every opportunity to play a few extra rounds while vacationing in warmer climates. Bruce offered counsel and guidance to Scott and Amy who always recognized his sincere approach to their welfare. He will be sadly missed, but happily remembered by all those whose life he touched. Monsignor Norman Chartrand will lead a memorial service (Liturgy of the Word) at Blessed John XXIII Parish, Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Ave., on Thursday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Man.
