JOAN ENGLISH It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our daughter and sister, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on February 1, 2001. Joan was predeceased by her father Henry and brother Harold. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her mother Anne, brother Allan and his wife Florence and her sister Grace. Also left to cherish her memory are nieces, Bev (Joel Palsson), Valerie McCartney, Karen (Cam Russell) and greatnephew Thomas Russell. Joan was born in Winnipeg on August 13, 1933, and was a lifelong resident here. She attended Red River School and West Kildonan Collegiate. Joan was employed by the Manitoba Telephone System until her retirement. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with the Rev. Brenda Fraser officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service. Our sincere thanks to all our friends who were so faithful and gave unstintingly of their time during Joans illness. Special thanks to Dr. A. Cooke and Dr. R. Wong along with all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who cared for Joan. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Joans memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, Man., R3C 2B7, or to a charity of ones choice.
