Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUISE KRUSHEL Louise Krushel passed away at the Golden Links Lodge on February 2, 2001 at the age of 97 years. She was born on November 16, 1903 at Kleefeld, Man., the daughter of Karl and Henrietta (Scharein) Topnik. Louise spent her early years in Kleefeld until her marriage in 1926 to Henry Krushel, the local schoolteacher at Oswald. Together they spent the following 41 years in the Southern Manitoba school districts of Birkenhead, Weidenfeld, Hochfeld, Hamburg, Schanzenfeld, Housten, Gruenthal, and finally returning to the Kleefeld area school district of Hanover (Rocky) in 1960 where they lived for seven years. In 1967, retirement brought about the move to Winnipeg where she remained for the rest of her life. Of the many activities, Louise particularly enjoyed teaching the school district girls the art of embroidery, sewing and crocheting. She was also especially fond of the fine art of cooking, growing beautiful flowers, and spoiling the grandchildren. As well she enjoyed socializing with her many friends and relatives, advising, consoling or regaling them with stories of yesteryear, which she described in minute detail drawing from a photographic memory that never failed her, even well into her 97th year. Louise was predeceased by her husband Henry (December 14, 1987) sisters, Augusta Schalla and Caroline Kreutzer and brothers, John, Carl and Harry. She is survived by her two sons, Elmer (Diana) of Whiterock, B.C. and Howard (Lee) of Calgary, Alta.; her grandchildren, Eric (Heather) of Saskatoon, Sask., Brian (Chris) of Comox, B.C., Keith (Sarah) of Calgary, Alta., Shannon and Sheri of Red Deer, Alta.; five great-grandchildren, Colton, Christian, Matthias, Joshua, Benjamin and her sister-in-law Olga Topnik.
