IRIS MARGARET REDDING (nee HOOD) 1913 - 2001 Peacefully, in the early hours of Friday, February 2, 2001, our Mom, Grandmom and friend, Mrs. Iris Margaret Redding, longtime resident of Winnipeg, passed away just shy of her 88th Birthday. Mom is survived by her son Dave of Vancouver, BC; Ron of Winnipeg, MB; daughter Judy Willows and son-in-law Warren of Vancouver, BC; granddaughters, Shannon Redding of England and Lindsey Redding of Winnipeg; two brothers, Robert Hood of Nanaimo, BC and Jack Hood of White Rock, BC and by a brother-in-law Ken Redding of Las Vegas, Nevada. Iris Margaret Redding was born on February 17, 1913 in Winnipeg, the daughter of James and Rachel Hood. After leaving school, Mom worked at several jobs before meeting Cecil Redding at the CN Station during the war. She and Dad were married on July 20, 1944 and after a short time in Halifax, they settled down back in Winnipeg on Sherburn Street. A few years later they moved to Queenston Street in River Heights. In 1963 Dads job took him to Minnesota for one year. In 1964 the family returned to Winnipeg and settled in Silver Heights, where Mom resided for over 34 years. In November 1998 due to declining health, Mom entered the Oakview Place Nursing Home on Ness Avenue where she spent her remaining years until her passing. She was a very warm, kind and generous person. After Cecil passed away in 1974 Mom worked with the Human Society Auxiliary for several years and enjoyed her television, talking with friends and neighbours on the phone and enjoying life in her home in Silver Heights. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and neighbours. In compliance with Moms wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held and a private family gathering will take place at a later date. She will be interred in Assumption Cemetery beside her husband Cecil. We would like to express a special thank you to all who visited Mom and sent cards and letters during her stay at Oakview Place, especially to Peter and Joyce Bennett for their visits and treats and for being such wonderful neighbours; special thanks to Ken and Leila Swan who visited Mom and Ron weekly for years and helped out in so many ways. Their visits were always a source of fun and laughter and to all the staff at Oakview Place for their excellent and considerate care. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Iris memory to a charity of ones choice. If friends would like to send a card or note to the family, please contact Mrs. Judy Willows, 1211 Silverwood Crescent, North Vancouver, BC V7P 2J2. Thanks Mom for all your love, support and help through the years and all the wonderful memories of home. You were always there for us no matter what. Say hi to Dad and Uncle Pat. We love you and miss you already. This is just so long until we meet again. God Bless You Mom from Judy, Dave and Ron. WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665

  • I remember aunt Iris came to Prince George one Christmas and she was a lot of fun. She and my mother Marg got off on the right foot. She called us several times a year. Bob died of cancer at home suddenly in 2005 in his sleep and Marg died at home in 2010 at home surrounded by family. Anyway they were all great including Bob’s brother Pat the oldest. Funny guy God bless them all. He had an aunt Lilly too she was a very nice ole gal - Posted by: Blake arcand (Robert AHood was my mothers 2nd husband) on: Jul 03, 2025
