Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGABRIEL SAPACZ On January 31, 2001 with his loving wife Anna by his side and surrounded by family members, our dearly beloved father, Opa and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at Luther Home in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his mother Agatha; father Gregory and siblings, Walter, Joseph, Antonina, Dorotca and Olga. Left to mourn him are his children, son Ed (Tracy), Rick (Debbie), John (Flora) daughter Erika (Klaus), Anita (Bob) grandchildren, Jeanna, Brendon, Mackenzie, Andrew (Natalie), Jeff (Donna), Nicole (Colby), Bryan (Melissa), Christine (Jim), James (Kim), Joseph (Coreen), Mark (Nancy), Patrick (Tracy) and Rosanne. He will be sadly missed by his 15 great-grandchildren, Carla, Tara, Cory, Samantha, Christopher, Roman, Alexandra, Matthew, Devon, Cassidy, Nicholas, Taylor, Cole, Lucas, and baby Julie. He will be fondly remembered by the Dombek family, Richtscheid family, Leschynski family, and many friends who touched his life. Gabriel was born March 15, 1907 in Yakowicy, Willno, Poland. He was a veteran of the British Army, 2nd Tank Division, Polish Reserve. He fought in Monte Casino and was posted in many placed during the Second World War including Persia, Iran and Egypt. In 1944 his Division was transferred to England where he resided until 1947. Tragically he lost contact with his immediate family and at that point decided to embark on a new life in Canada as a carpenter. It was in Winnipeg in 1954 that he met and married Anna - a widow with three young children. Soon after Edward, and later Richard were added to this family union. Dad worked very hard to support his family and ensure their health and well being. Many happy and memorable summers were spent together at the Lester Beach cottage. It was here that he was happiest - chopping wood or building something onto the cottage. It was a gathering place for his growing family where he would delight in seeing his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even in his last days he spoke in anticipation of going to the cottage. This summer pilgrimage will never be the same without him. Sincere thanks to the caring staff of Luther Home, and Dr. Bellan and Dr. Domke for their excellent care of our father. Prayers will be said on Sunday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Church, 355 Andrews at Mountain Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gabriel may be made to Luther Home, 1081 Andrew, R3V 2G9. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044. "WIECZNY ODPOCZYNEK RACZ MU DAC PANIE"
