STANLEY BRUCE JACOBSON Peacefully, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Stanley Jacobson passed away at the Grace General Hospital on February 2, 2001 at the age of 57. Stan is survived by his mother Helen; niece Dominique; nephew Joshua and stepson Michael. He was predeceased by his wife, Linda "Bobbie" in 1991; his father Lawrence in 1975 and his brother Dwayne in 1999. Stan was born in Port Arthur, Ont. on April 28, 1943 and raised in Red Rock, Ont. During his youth he was very involved in amateur hockey. At age 18 he moved to Winnipeg. He enjoyed a variety of trades during his working career, from millwork in Red Rock, to heavy truck operator during the Kettle Rapids and Long Spruce Hydro Generating Projects in Gillam and the construction on the Winnipeg Floodway. He also drove cab for Duffys for many years, and worked as a painter in Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. In 1994 he joined the ranks of Champ Stainless, a metal fabricating company in Winnipeg, where he worked as a machine operator until he became too ill in December, 2000. Stan was a very dedicated and valuable employee, who will be missed by his many friends and co-workers at Champ Stainless. Stans gentle nature and caring heart earned him many friends during his too short lifetime. His generosity, soft-spoken voice, slow smile and contagious laughter are his legacy to all who loved him. Stan was the happiest when he was "on the waters" with a fishing rod in hand. He spent many happy years at his "Shack" at Caribou Lake. Stan boasts two master angler awards and loved nothing better than to share his catch with friends. Sincere thanks to the medical team on the 2nd Floor, Grace Hospital and Sr. Pastor Dr. Brian Brglez who cared for Stan with such kindness and compassion during his time of greatest need. A memorial service will take place on Friday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. A private internment will take place at a later date. Donations in Stans memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 0V9. "Remembering you Stan is the easy part, for you are always in our thoughts and in our hearts, but if we had one wish today it would be to have you stay. Today, tomorrow and forever you will be loved and remembered" "Hey kid, see ya later" P. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 156 Marion Street949-4864
