Tony was born September 15, 1923 and lived on his parents farm near Elma, Man., his entire life. He was proud to farm the family homestead and keep it in the family. He also worked off the farm in various occupations, ranging from school bus driver to highway construction. He was night watchman at the Sungro Peat Moss plant from 1987 to 1999 and also stocked vending machines for the staff there. Predeceased by his parents, George and Susanna Gulenchyn; his brothers, Frank, Edward and Tom; his sisters, Mary, Anne and Kathryn. Tony leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Louise, Sandra (Keith), Sally (Max) and Alice and ten grandchildren, Marie, Michael, Matthew, David, Jennifer, Nicole, Delee, Marc, Luke and Lauryn, who was his special granddaughter that he affectionately referred to as his little "barabolya". Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the Elma Ukrainian Catholic Church, Elma, Man. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. We wish to thank the caregivers at Victoria General Hospital, especially Dr. Thottingal, Joanne, Juanita and other fifth floor staff. Great appreciation is also extended to Gladys, his homecare worker. Tony was a kind, sincere and devoted man whose smiling face brought joy to those he touched.
