HUGH CLIFFORD SWANN March 3, 1929 - February 6, 2001 Peacefully, with family by his side, Hugh passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, almost a month before his 72nd birthday. Along with his wife June and sister Ada, Hugh will be greatly missed by his children, Joyce, Hugh Jr. and Richard; his son-in-law Bob; his grandchildren, Michael, Crystal, Ashley and Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nicholas; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert, Mona; Ellamae, John and Jack, as well as our dear family friend Gorma; and our many other relatives and friends. Hugh was predeceased by both parents, as well as by his son Ronald. Hugh retired in 1985 after a 37 year career at the Transcona shops of the Canadian National Railway. The family wish to thank all the caregivers at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their kind and compassionate care for Hugh over the past few weeks. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. West. Viewing Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and at the church prior to the service. Interment in Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
