He was predeceased by his parents Joseph & Josephine Dram and father-in-law George Bull. George was born on October 3, 1934 at Cross Lake, Manitoba, the fourth son of Joseph & Josephine Dram. He spent his early years in Cross Lake but at age twelve was sent to Winnipeg to attend school. In 1950 he was flown out of Cross Lake by one of the first small aircraft to fly in Northern Manitoba. He was operated on in The Pas which surely saved his life. Thus began his lifetime love affair with flying. He obtained his private pilots licence at the age of nineteen and his commercial licence a couple of years later. He flew out of various places in the north. In 1959 he moved to Wabowden were he met and married his wife. They lived all their married life there. In 1960 he and two partners formed Cross Lake Air Service Ltd. He owned and operated this until his passing. In 1988, he & Roger Whittington started Utik Lake Lodge. He never considered retiring as he couldnt imagine anything that would be more fun than what he was already doing. During his years of flying he met many people from all walks of life and has friends in many places. Many of these people said " George was the best pilot they ever flew with". To him he was just doing what came naturally. He was a bush pilot and never wanted to be anything else. He was mayor of Wabowden for eleven years and a Board member of the Provincial Community Economical Development Fund for many years. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Ke-Nea-Now Centre in Wabowden, Manitoba on Feb. 12 at 2:00 p.m. At his request, cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date. First flew with George about 1969, and several times thereafter up until about 1975. George was a very competent pilot and always instilled confidence in his customers. Good luck George JS - Posted by: Jack Stephens (Client of CLAS) on: Nov 15, 2022
