ELIZABETH FRIG It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Frig (nee Szecskas) on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at Seven Oaks General Hospital, at the age of 87 years. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Steve Anthony Frig (August 1988) her son Joseph Louis Frig (May 18, 1983) brother Steve Szecskas (Landway) sister Mary Farkas; mother Anna Kovacs (1947) father Steve Szecskas (1970) and grandfather Frank Kovacs (1930) who brought her to this great country. Elizabeth is mourned by her remaining children, Anne Rathy of Brantford, ON, Elizabeth Horvath of Niagara Falls, ON, Mary Ritlop (Joe) of Keremeos, BC, Ethel Csinos of Clear Creek, ON, Steve Frig of Chipman, AB, Rose Ott (Steven) of Tottenham, ON, Louise Bohm (Tom) of Winnipeg, Helen MacPherson of Winnipeg, John Frig (Linda) of Gunton, MB, George Frig (Donna) of Selkirk, MB and Paul Frig of Selkirk, 33 remaining grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Szecskas (Esther) of Brantford, George Szecskas (Betty) of Brantford and Joe Szecskas (Jean) of Norwich, ON, and their families. Elizabeth was born in Kislang, Hungary on September 14, 1913. She immigrated to Canada in 1925 with her parents and grandparents to Spiritwood, SK. She met her husband Steve in Spiritwood and were married on February 14, 1933. They homesteaded in Spiritwood from 1933 to 1950. They then moved to Gunton, MB, bought a farm and lived there until 1989. Elizabeth was a proud mother who loved all her children. She was a hard working woman who enjoyed the life as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and the general outdoors, and the Robins will miss eating out of her hand this Spring. She lived life to the fullest, each and every day and loved to travel. She was an active Board Member of Manitoba Dairy and Poultry from 1966 - 1970 and an active member of the St. Elizabeth Ladys Auxillary at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Church. She loved her Catholic faith and attended church regularly. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for the wonderful care they gave her and special thanks to Home Care and V.O.N. nurses. Special Thanks to Anna Bohm who called her every day because she cared. Special Thanks to daughter Helen for her uncompromising devotion in caring for her parents since 1983. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Hungarian Church, 365 Burnell St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10, at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Fr. Paul Hancko officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeths memory to St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Hungarian Church, or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
