EARL CLAIR MARTINEAU (Row Boat Martineau) First Battalion North Shore Regt. WW2 Earl Clair Martineau, age 89 years entered into eternal rest with Jesus, on Monday, February 5, 2001 at the Luther Home of Winnipeg. Loving uncle of Loretta Dawkins of California, Barbara Howe of Red Deer Alta., Foster Martineau of Montreal Que., Jacquline Sumter, and Donna Jaques of Winnipeg, Man. Born in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, on Wednesday November 29, 1911. Son of the late Eliza and Thomas Martineau, Uncle Earl was predeceased by; sisters Isabel 1997, Patricia in 1992, Christina in 1987, and brother Richard in 1994; nephews, Edward and Donald Martineau, Stephen Howe; nephew-in-law, Rev. Leslie Sumter in 2000. Uncle Earl grew up in New Castle, New Brunswick, where he made many friends and was very well loved. Earl became a boxer for a short while then joined the army in 1939 First Battalion North Shore Regt. in New Castle, New Brunswick and fought in the second world war, where he was wounded in battle. When Earl returned home, he worked for a short time for C.N.R., then did extensive travelling. He had many friends throughout his life and shared many of his experiences, particularly with his nieces and nephews whom he loved greatly. Earl stayed with his mother until she passed away, then moved to be with his sister, Patricia in Fredericton until she moved to be with her daughter Donna in Nova Scotia. Earl remained in Fredericton until Patricia and Donna and Earl moved to Winnipeg to be with Donnas sister Jacquline. Winnipeg was not a stranger to Earl, he had been here long ago, but it became his home in 1987 until he entered his rest. "THE BUGLE HAS SOUNDED". Earl has answered the call. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 10 at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., Pastor Calvert Layne officiating. Friends may pay their respects, one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Garry Memorial Park. Uncle you will be greatly missed, by all your nieces and nephews. We will remember your great sense of humour, and the way you would throw your head back in laughter. Your favourite saying. "IF IT HASNT BEEN DONE ILL DO IT" The family wishes to express their sincere thanks, to the Seven Oaks General Hospital, and the Misericordia Health Centre, as well as the Luther Home and all the Personal Care Attendants.
