Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIAN OWEN (nee HARMS) On February 7, 2001, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother left our world to join her beloved husband Samuel J. Owen who passed away on October 27, 1994. There also to meet her are her parents Corneilus and Helena Harms, brother William Harms, sister Katherine and grandson Jeffery who both died in infancy. Mom was born in Altona, Man., on Christmas Eve, 1929. She grew up in Southern Manitoba in the Dominion City - Gretna area. She moved to Winnipeg when she was 16 years old. She worked as a domestic for a while and then worked at Eatons for a few years. She then met the love of her life Sam Owen. After her children were in school, Mom went back to work. She worked for the Winnipeg Flying Club for a number of years and MacDonalds Consolidated until she was injured and forced to retire in 1989. Mom had a great zest for life but her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, especially her roses. After Dads passing, Mom seemed to lose some of her passion for life. Mom suffered a stroke in 1996. Her health has been slowly declining. She is survived by her children and families, Sam and Darlene (Nicole and Sam Jr.), Sandra and Ernie (Todd), Tom and Linda (Christopher, Tanya and Scott), Ernie, Cheryl and Dallas (Marcia), Randy and Linda (Krista and Timothy) and great-grandchildren (Kyrra, Gabriel and Shaelyn) sister Diane; sister-in-law Joyce Harms and special friends, Sandy Owen, Kirk Kennedy, Inga Naylor and Mark Hawkins and brother Ed Harms. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 12 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. We would like to thank Dr. D. M. Miller and staff on the 3rd floor Unit 4 of the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and compassion during Moms illness. Also a special thank you to the HCAs who helped Mom while she was still home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8. It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone For part of us went with you The day that God called you home. Our family link is broken And nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one The chain will link again. We love you and well miss you Love Your family Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
