EDWARD JOHN YAWORSKI It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of E.J. Yaworski, on Thursday, February 8, 2001, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital at the age of 86 years. Ed was born October 26, 1914, in Rossburn, Man. He attended school at Scarth, Man. He spent his teen years during the Depression working at various jobs in lumber camps and on farms. In 1940 he enlisted in the army at the age of 25 years and served from 1940 to 1945. Ed worked for CNR for 38 years in Ashern and Hilbre, retiring as section foreman in 1971. He served several terms on the LGD of Grahamdale Council, both as Reeve and Councillor. Ed later worked as a crop insurance adjuster for 12 years. In 1959 Ed bought a farm in Hilbre, and at this time his true passion was farming. Ed and his wife Lottie enjoyed travelling, Ed enjoyed fishing and reading. He leaves to mourn his wife of 27 years, Lottie; one daughter Kathleen and husband Brad Collins of Winnipeg; three sons, Brian of Winnipeg, Kevin and wife Bev of Hilbre and John of Winnipeg; six grandchildren, Margaret (Bob) Ireland, Amy, Paula, Kevin Jr., Kristin and Gordon; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Curtis; two sisters, Nellie Hudson of Kelowna, B.C., and Arleigh Rodway of Vancouver, B.C.; two sisters-in-law, Lil Casselman and Pearl Heroux; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Bridget in 1973; one daughter Margaret in 1959; and one brother Carl. A prayer service will be held on Monday, February 12 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ashern beginning at 7:00 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father David Koslowski officiating. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Yaworski, Clayton Dowsett, Brad Collins, Paula Collins, Peter Braun and Kevin Yaworski Jr. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for the care given to Ed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg.
