KATARZYNA DOMIENIK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother on Sunday, February 4, 2001, at the age of 80. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Helga (Paul) Weiss, Eddie (Pearl) Domienik in Winnipeg, Canada, and Richard Domienik. Also her grandchildren, Daria Weiss, Cleveland U.S.A.; Rachel (Wade) Hudson and great-granddaughter Jaycee, Calgary; Nicole (Shane) Ungurian and great-grandson Caelum Nicholas, Winnipeg; and Natalie, Chelsey and Kaitlyn Domienik, Winnipeg, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband Tadeusz in October, 1995, and brother Jan Kosowski during the Second World War, and is survived by sisters, Hannah in New York City, Olga in Chicago, U.S.A.; and brother Stefan Kosowski in the Ukraine; as well as many nieces and nephews throughout the world. Katarzyna was taken by force from her home in Przemysl, Poland, to work in a labour camp in Germany during the Second World War. There she met and married Tadeusz and after the war they settled in England, where they raised their family. For many years she worked in the fields in and around Peterborough, as an agricultural worker. Katarzyna was an excellent cook and was known for her baked cheesecakes and paczek (jambusters), as the Polish ex-service mens club could attest. At the age of 52 she was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease, and whilst she was still able, she travelled to Poland and Canada a number of times. Sincere thanks and appreciation go to all staff at Coneygree Lodge, Stanground, where she was a resident for many years. Katarzyna will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and the love she brought to all our lives. She will be sadly missed by her loving family. Special thanks to Helen Curtis and Olek Przybyl for their love and care during Mums illness. Requiem Mass will be said at All Souls Catholic Church, Peterborough, on Wednesday, February 14, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private cremation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard Church, 40 Foster St., Winnipeg, on Saturday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, if one so desires, donations may be made to The Parkinson Foundation.
