HERBERT (TURK) TRELLER, B.E.M. Peacefully, on July 31, 1999, Herbert (Turk) Treller, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Sarah; his brothers, Harry and Terry; his sisters, Alice, Anne and Irene; and by his wife Iris in 1986. He is survived by his son Jim (Edith) and their children, Bert (Shannon), Christina (Chris) Ulmer, and Todd; his daughter Eileen (Dave) Devanik and their children, David (Amity), and Erin, as well as by brothers, Jim and George; and sisters, Rose Storms and Grace Thitchner. Herb was born May 17, 1921 and was raised in the Weston area. During the Second World War he served with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders and with the Royal Canadian Navy. Herb served aboard the H.M.C.S. Hespeler and was awarded the British Empire Medal, for the saving of lives, by the King of England. He was employed by the Winnipeg Fire Department for 31 years, retiring in 1980 with the rank of training officer. He was a founding member and life member of the Firefighters Historical Society. The family would like to thank Bev and the staff of T3 for their caring support and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at a later date. There will be a memorial service at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. on Friday, August 6 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund, 202 - 666 St. James St., Wpg. R3G 3J6
